Grasp’s held their 11th Annual Benefit Gala on May 21st, 2014 at the Hyatt Union Square New York. Grasp was established in NYC in 2003 by a group of adults with Asperger’s Syndrome. It is a non-profit organization that creates more than 30 peer-support groups across the United States and Canada.
Grasp’s goal is to help teens, adults, and families on the Spectrum feel empowered through a variety of educational and support programs that give them the confidence and foundation needed to build a productive life personally and professionally.
The Annual Benefit was a great evening starting with Amy Gravino, GRASP Board Member welcoming guests to the event, followed by Kate Palmer, Executive Director who discussed how important it is for young adults on the Spectrum to have a significant place in our community. One of the most moving moments of the evening was hearing Paulette Penzvalto Operatic Performance, accompanied by pianist, Michael Kingon. Paulette is a young adult on the Spectrum, whose presence, beauty and voice brought tears to my eyes.
